The 7-Day Beginner Progression Plan
A week of snowboarding sounds like a lot until you're in the middle of it. Without a plan, day 4 looks the same as day 2. Here's a structured 7-day progression that takes a total beginner from never-ridden to confident blue-runs by week's end.
The 7-Day Plan
- Day 1 — Strap-in, slide, falling leaf. Morning group lesson. Afternoon: heelside falling leaf on the magic carpet. Goal: get up after falls without crying.
- Day 2 — More falling leaf, intro to toeside. Magic carpet only. Goal: toeside side-slip without panicking. Half-day, rest in the afternoon.
- Day 3 — Linking turns. Easiest green run. Drop a heelside turn, switch edge, drop a toeside turn. Goal: 3 linked turns in a row.
- Day 4 — Repeat green runs. Build mileage. Same slope, ten times. Goal: feel relaxed on the chair lift and on the slope.
- Day 5 — Optional private lesson. Polish stance, fix tilt habits. Try a long blue-flat run.
- Day 6 — First proper blue run. Pick the gentlest blue on the map. Ride it three times. Goal: comfortable speed control.
- Day 7 — Consolidate. Don't push to red runs yet. Lap blues, work on smooth turns, end strong.
This rhythm matches how the body actually learns. Pushing harder doesn't help. Pushing on the wrong day hurts.
