Verbier Spring Sessions — Why Late Season Here is Special
We first visited Verbier way back on Day 11, when winter was in full swing. But Verbier in spring is an entirely different experience — and arguably an even better one. The famous Swiss resort transforms in late April and May into a sun-soaked playground where the skiing is soft, the vibes are relaxed, and the terrain is at its most accessible.
What Makes Spring in Verbier Different
By late April, the snow line has retreated to higher elevations, concentrating the skiing on the upper mountain. The Mont Fort glacier and the runs above Attelas become the focus, and the snow conditions follow a beautiful daily cycle:
- Early morning — Firm, fast snow from the overnight freeze. Perfect for carving.
- Mid-morning — The sun softens the surface into creamy corn snow. This is the sweet spot.
- Afternoon — Slush on south-facing slopes. Time for the terrace.
Spring Events and Freeride
Verbier hosts some of the most exciting late-season events in the Alps, including freeride competitions on the Bec des Rosses face — one of the most extreme competition venues in the world. Even if you are not competing, the atmosphere is electric. Skiers and riders gather on the terraces, the music plays, and the mountain delivers.
