Obergurgl-Hochgurgl — Austria's Highest Ski Village in 3D

By Gergely Kovacs, founder of Bonvo.Ski 3D MapsObergurgl-Hochgurgl

When every other resort is closing, Obergurgl-Hochgurgl is still skiing. At 1,930 m, Obergurgl is the highest parish village in Austria, and the ski area climbs all the way to 3,080 m. This altitude means snow reliability that few resorts can match — and it makes it one of the best late-season destinations in the Alps.

Two Villages, One Ski Area

Obergurgl and Hochgurgl are connected by a gondola and together offer 112 km of slopes. The terrain splits neatly:

  • Obergurgl — The lower village with a mix of intermediate and easy slopes. Perfect for families and relaxed cruising. The Festkogl and Hohe Mut areas offer stunning scenery.
  • Hochgurgl — Higher, steeper, and more exposed. The Top Mountain Star restaurant at 3,080 m has panoramic views across the Ötztal Alps.

Late-Season Reliability

The season in Obergurgl typically runs from mid-November to late April. The high altitude means natural snow coverage well into spring, and the north-facing aspects above Hochgurgl hold snow beautifully. Use Bonvo.Ski's 3D map to see which slopes sit highest and which face north — those are your best bets for quality snow in April.

Navigate It in Bonvo.Ski

  1. Load Obergurgl-Hochgurgl from the resort selector.
  2. Download the map offline — The Ötztal valley has variable cell coverage, especially at altitude.
  3. Use the family slope filter if you are with beginners — the Obergurgl side has excellent gentle terrain.

If you are chasing late-season turns, put Obergurgl-Hochgurgl on your list. The altitude guarantees the goods.
