Adelboden — World Cup Giant Slalom Terrain Explored in 3D

Every January, the Chuenisbärgli slope in Adelboden hosts one of the most atmospheric World Cup giant slalom races on the calendar. The Swiss crowd packs the hillside, cowbells ring through the valley, and the best technical skiers in the world battle a steep, icy pitch. With Bonvo.Ski, you can explore this famous terrain in full 3D.

The Chuenisbärgli Race Slope

The World Cup course is steep, relentless, and surprisingly short — around 1.5 km with a vertical drop of about 420 m. What makes it challenging is the consistent pitch and the ice. Use slope search to find it on the Bonvo.Ski map and tap it to see the elevation profile. You will immediately understand why racers struggle on the final steep section.

Beyond the Race Course

Adelboden-Lenk is a large ski area with 210 km of slopes connecting multiple valleys. The terrain is predominantly intermediate, making it one of the best resorts in Switzerland for confident cruisers. Here is how to explore it:

  1. Load Adelboden in the resort selector and open the 3D map.
  2. Filter by advanced slopes using slope rankings to find the steeper runs, including the Chuenisbärgli.
  3. Record your GS line — Ski the race slope and record it. Check your speed and compare it with your previous runs.
  4. Explore Lenk — The connection to Lenk adds a second valley of long, scenic runs that are perfect for covering distance.

Adelboden does not get the hype of Zermatt or Verbier, but for the technically inclined skier, it is a gem. See it in 3D and you will understand why.
