Mark Backcountry Routes in Cortina d'Ampezzo with Drawing Mode
Cortina d'Ampezzo in the Dolomites has incredible off-piste terrain. If you are exploring backcountry zones, you need a way to mark hazards, powder stashes, and safe routes. That is what Drawing Mode is for.
Activating Drawing Mode
- Tap the drawing tool icon in the left action button cluster
- The interface changes to show drawing tools in the right cluster
Drawing Tools Available
- Color Picker — choose colors for different features
- Lock Map — toggle between drawing and panning the map
- Freehand Drawing — draw lines, routes, or outlines
- Marker Tool — drop pins at specific locations
- Polygon Tool — outline areas like avalanche zones or powder fields
- Delete Tool — remove shapes you do not need
- Save Drawing — save your map for later
- Load Drawing — open a saved map or one shared by friends
Use Cases for Drawing Mode
- Mark hazards — draw red polygons around avalanche zones or cliffs
- Plan backcountry routes — trace your intended path with a blue line
- Highlight powder stashes — mark tree zones that hold fresh snow
- Coordinate with friends — draw a meeting point with a marker
- Document your exploration — keep a record of routes you have skied
Saving and Sharing
Once you have created your drawing, tap Save Drawing. The map is saved to your device. You can share the file with friends, and they can load it on their devices using Load Drawing.
This is especially useful for groups exploring backcountry together — one person scouts and marks the route, then everyone loads the same map.
