Dryland Drills — Rehearsing Toe and Heel Edge at Home

No snow nearby? No problem. A surprising amount of snowboarding can be rehearsed on your living-room carpet or a balance trainer. Dryland drills build the muscle memory and confidence that make your first real runs feel familiar.

Carpet Drills With Your Board

Strap into your board on a carpeted floor where it cannot slide. This is the safest place to learn what the bindings feel like.

  1. Strap in and stand up. Practice getting to your feet from sitting, both from the heel side and the toe side.
  2. Rock to your toe edge. Lift your heels slightly and feel the pressure move to the balls of your feet.
  3. Rock to your heel edge. Lift your toes and feel the pressure shift to your heels.
  4. Find a neutral, flexed stance. Knees soft, hips centred, eyes up.

Balance-Trainer Drills

A balance board or wobble cushion trains the small stabilising muscles you use constantly when riding.

  • Two-footed balance. Hold a steady stance for thirty seconds at a time.
  • Slow weight shifts. Move your weight front to back, mimicking control during a run.
  • Soft-knee bounces. Gently flex and extend to learn shock absorption.

Why Dryland Matters

Edge control is the single most important beginner skill, and it is mostly about feel. Rehearsing that feel at home means your body already knows the movements before the pressure of a real slope kicks in. Five minutes a day for a couple of weeks adds up fast.

When you are ready to take those edges outdoors, Bonvo shows you the gentlest beginner pistes in 3D so your home practice translates straight to the mountain.
