An Indoor Snow-Centre Pre-Season Practice Session Plan
If there is an indoor snow centre within reach, a session or two before your trip is gold. Real snow, controlled conditions, and short laps let you knock the rust off without losing a precious day of your actual holiday. Here is a plan to make the most of one visit.
Before You Go
- Book a beginner slot. Many centres have set times or a nursery area for new riders.
- Dress in layers. Indoor slopes sit around minus two to minus five Celsius.
- Bring or rent gloves and a helmet. Falls happen, and they happen on hard indoor snow.
A One-Session Plan
- Warm up off-board (5 minutes). Easy squats and leg swings to wake up your muscles in the cold.
- Strapping in and balance (10 minutes). Strap in on the flat, stand up, and find your balanced stance.
- Heel-edge sliding (15 minutes). Practice slow, controlled heel-side slides down the gentle slope.
- Toe-edge sliding (15 minutes). Switch to facing uphill and slide on your toes.
- Linking turns (20 minutes). If you are ready, try connecting one edge to the other.
- Cool-down lap (5 minutes). One relaxed run to lock in the feeling.
Why It Works
Short indoor laps mean far more repetitions per hour than a big mountain. You also avoid altitude, weather, and crowds, so your brain can focus purely on technique. Two sessions before a trip can be the difference between spending day one falling and spending it riding.
After your indoor practice, study your real destination on Bonvo. Spot the beginner zones in 3D so the mountain feels familiar before you even arrive.
