Laax Beginner Areas — A Slope-by-Slope Breakdown
Laax markets itself as snowboard heaven, but for a first-time rider the resort layout can feel intimidating. Two beginner zones cluster the easiest slopes — and the Bonvo.Ski 3D map shows you both clearly.
Beginner Zone 1 — Crap Sogn Gion
The main beginner playground. Top of the gondola from Laax village (2,228 m). Sunny plateau, dedicated beginner area with three lifts and four wide blue slopes:
- La Siala — 3.8 km long, ~10% steepness, top to mid-mountain.
- Curnius — Parallel to La Siala, slightly easier.
- Treis Palas — Short blue with a magic carpet.
- Plaun — Beginner-only zone, lift not open to advanced riders.
Beginner Zone 2 — Falera Side
Less famous, less crowded. Take the gondola from Falera village. The slopes here are gentler still, and the queues are 30% shorter on weekends.
- Tegia Larnags — Long wide blue.
- Alp Dado — Easy round-trip blue, perfect for laps.
What to Avoid as a Beginner
- Vorab Glacier slopes — Wide but at altitude, often icy.
- The descent to Laax village — Several pinch points that catch beginners out. Take the gondola down on day 1–2.
