Summer Glacier Skiing Guide — Where to Ski in June, July, and August

Summer skiing is real, it is accessible, and it is more popular than you might think. Across the Alps, a handful of glacier resorts open their lifts through June, July, and even August, offering genuine skiing and snowboarding when the rest of the world is at the beach. Here is your guide to where to go.

The Summer Skiing Resorts

  • Zermatt, Switzerland — The most reliable summer skiing in the Alps. The Matterhorn glacier paradise operates lifts above 3,800 metres virtually year-round. Expect groomed runs, a terrain park, and that iconic Matterhorn backdrop.
  • Hintertux, Austria — Open 365 days. The glacier between 2,660 and 3,250 metres offers roughly 20 km of summer runs. Conditions are best early in the morning before the sun softens the surface.
  • Stubai Glacier, Austria — Open through June in most years, sometimes into July. Wide, gentle glacier runs above 3,000 metres with excellent grooming.
  • Saas-Fee, Switzerland — The Allalin glacier at 3,500 metres opens for summer skiing. Compact but reliable, with a beautiful high-alpine setting.
  • Les 2 Alpes, France — The glacier opens for summer skiing in June, with access to slopes above 3,200 metres. Popular with freestyle skiers and boarders for the summer terrain park.
  • Tignes, France — The Grande Motte glacier offers summer skiing in June and July, with terrain above 3,000 metres and a dedicated summer atmosphere.

Plan Your Summer Session

Every one of these resorts is available in the Bonvo.Ski app with full 3D maps. Browse them now, compare the terrain, and figure out which glacier suits your style. Download the maps offline — glacier altitude means patchy signal — and remember that summer glacier skiing is typically a morning activity. The snow is firmest before 11 AM, and most resorts close the glacier lifts by early afternoon.

Summer skiing is the ultimate flex. While everyone else is talking about missing the snow, you are out there living it.
