Day 84 of 365

Hintertux — The Only Year-Round Glacier Resort in Austria

Hintertux Glacier holds a unique distinction: it is the only ski resort in Austria that operates 365 days a year. While every other resort closes for at least a few weeks or months, Hintertux keeps its lifts spinning through spring, summer, and autumn. For dedicated skiers, that matters.

The Glacier Layout

Open Hintertux in the Bonvo.Ski app and you will see a compact but well-designed glacier ski area. The terrain sits between roughly 2,660 and 3,250 metres altitude, with the Gefrorene Wand (Frozen Wall) summit providing stunning views into the high Zillertal Alps. The 3D map shows the glacier plateau clearly — a broad, gently sloping area at the top with steeper descents feeding down to the mid-stations.

What You Get Year-Round

  • 60 km of slopes in the full Hintertux-Tux area during winter
  • ~20 km of glacier runs available even in summer
  • Reliable conditions — the glacier altitude ensures snow cover regardless of the calendar
  • Natural ice palace — an ice cave inside the glacier you can visit between runs

Navigate a Glacier with 3D Maps

Glacier resorts can feel disorienting because the terrain is white in every direction. The 3D map in Bonvo.Ski helps enormously here — you can see ridgelines, drops, and run boundaries that are invisible on the actual glacier. Download the map offline before you head up, because mobile signal at 3,200 metres is unreliable at best.

Whether it is July or January, Hintertux is there for you. Load it up in the app and explore the terrain that never sleeps.
