Avoriaz is unlike any other ski resort. Perched at 1,800 metres on a cliff edge, it is entirely car-free. You arrive, park underground, and from that moment everything is on foot or on skis. Because Avoriaz is compact and pedestrian-only, the relationship between the village and the ski terrain is unusually tight. Runs weave between buildings. Lifts depart from the edge of apartment complexes.
