Where Are Mayrhofen's Beginner Snow Parks Located

Penken Park is Mayrhofen's flagship snow park, ranked among Europe's best. But Penken Park itself is intermediate-and-up. The S/Beginner park is in a separate location — and beginners often can't find it.

The Beginner Park (Frozen Ground)

Mayrhofen runs a dedicated beginner park called Frozen Ground, on the lower flanks of Penken. Features include:

• Two flat boxes (2 m and 3 m). Easy slide-on, slide-off.
• One small jump (1 m gap). Sized for confident green-run riders.
• Wave roller section. Pumpable rollers for board feel.
• A flat box on the entry. The "warmup" feature for first-timers.

How to Find It

1. From the Penken gondola, head down toward the Wanglalm chair.
2. The Frozen Ground beginner park is signposted on the left side of the piste.
3. Easy to miss — the entry is between two trees with a small sign.

For S/M/L progression after Frozen Ground:

• S section — Medium boxes (3–4 m), medium-small jumps (3 m gaps), beginner rails.
• M section — Step-up jumps (5–6 m), longer rails, kink boxes.
• L section — Stay away as a beginner.

Bonvo.Ski's Snowboarder mode highlights snow parks and rates them by difficulty. Filter Mayrhofen for "Snowboard parks" and the app flags Frozen Ground, Penken Park, and the smaller Vans Penken side park. Pre-plan your first park session before you fly.
